FBISE Class 10 New PBA Pattern and Instructions, 2022 to 2023 Scheme
The purpose of this assessment is to measure practical skills through experiments, observations, calculations, and diagrams rather than relying only on written theory.
Format: Section A focuses on experiments and data tables and is worth 12 marks, while Section B consists of short questions worth 8 marks.
Instructions: Students must answer within the spaces provided on the paper, use a black or blue pen only, and calculators are not permitted during the assessment.
Subjects: This new PBA format currently applies only to the Science group, covering Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and Computer Science.

Sample Physics New PBA Content, 2022 to 2023 Scheme
The model paper carries a total of 20 marks and allows 2 hours, and students are reminded to attempt all questions and write their answers within the spaces provided on the E Sheet.
Section A, 12 marks
Question 1 looks at the series combination of resistances.
i. Draw the labelled circuit diagram for two resistors connected in series, including all the circuit components. (02 marks) ii. The model paper provides a data table with columns for the number of observations.
The voltmeter readings V1 and V2, the resistances R1 and R2, the equivalent resistance Re, the total voltage V, the net current I, the resistance calculated using Ohm’s law, and the difference between the two resistance values.
All recorded in SI units. Students are asked to copy this table and complete the missing entries based on the readings given. (03 marks) iii. What effect would adding another resistance in series have on the equivalent resistance of the circuit shown in the table? (01 mark)
Question 2 revisits the experiment on the motion of a ball rolling down an angle iron.
i. What apparatus is required to study the motion of a ball rolling down an angle iron? (01 mark) ii. The model paper provides a second data table recording six observations of distance travelled, in centimeters.
Along with two time readings, t1 and t2, in seconds, for each distance. The recorded distances and corresponding times are as follows, with mean time and velocity left for the student to calculate.
