Rotational Kinematics
Angular Position θ: Angle with fixed reference, in radians (2π rad = 1 revolution).
Angular Displacement Δθ = θ_f – θ_i: Vector, right-hand rule direction.
Angular Velocity ω = dθ/dt: Rate of angular change, rad/s, vector along axis.
Average ω_avg = Δθ/Δt.
Angular Acceleration α = dω/dt: Rate of ω change, rad/s².
Average α_avg = Δω/Δt.
Relationship Between Linear and Angular Quantities
For radius r:
- Linear displacement s = r θ
- Linear velocity v = r ω (tangential)
- Tangential acceleration a_t = r α
- Centripetal acceleration a_c = v²/r = r ω²
- Total a = √(a_t² + a_c²)
